Jake Fraser-McGurk can FAIL?
Jake Fraser-McGurk never looked like he could fail in the five IPL games this year before April 29 (Monday), with scores of 55, 20, 65, 23 and 84. At the worst possible moment, the Australian failed in the clash against KKR, scoring a 7-ball 12, his lowest score in IPL 2024.
Interestingly, it was the fourth Australian batter that Mitchell Starc has dismissed this IPL.
Kuldeep shows he can bat
When all hopes were lost, Kuldeep Yadav emerged out of the shadows with a 26-ball 35 knock, which included smacking 10 off 3 against Starc. It was his knock that ultimately propelled the Capitals over 150.
Not so shocking, it was Kuldeep’s highest score with the bat, besting the 23* he scored against Sri Lanka in 2021.
Star(k) season for Mitchell
With a minimum of 25 overs filter in any IPL season, Mitchell Starc’s 2024 campaign is the worst in terms of economy. The left-arm pacer has conceded 11.8 RPO this year for the Knights.
In an innings where only 153 runs were scored, Starc conceded 43 runs in three overs at an ER of 13.33.
Chakaravarthy’s spell sparked a collapse
Varun Chakaravarthy had a brilliant record against Delhi Capitals (DC) going into this contest, with 14 wickets (ER 7.7). First, he got rid of Rishabh Pant for the third time in IPL history before removing Tristan Stubbs and Kumar Kushagra to finish with figures of 3/16.
Remember, this is the same venue where the curators refused to prepare spin-friendly conditions.
Phil Salt loves Eden Gardens
Phil Salt’s form at the Eden Gardens is such that he wouldn’t mind carrying it wherever he travels this year. In six innings at Eden, the Englishman has scored 344 runs, averaging 68.8, with four fifties. Not only that, he strikes at 187.
His last six scores at the venue read: 68 (33), 75 (37), 48 (14), 10 (13), 89* (47), 54 (40).
