After starting the week with a record-shattering match between SRH and RCB on Monday, the thrilling Tuesday clash brought out one of the biggest run chases in IPL history. Rajasthan Royals equalled the highest run chase which they only created four years ago in IPL 2020.
Jos Buttler laid another massive run chase in 10 days as he notched up his seventh IPL century surpassing Chris Gayle and being one short of Virat Kohli.
Buttler also became the first player in the IPL to score three centuries in run chases in IPL, overtaking Virat Kohli and Ben Stokes, who both have two centuries each.
It was also the fourth occasion in the IPL where we saw a centurion in both the innings.
Sunil Narine, who had an unbelievable day with bat scoring his first T20 century, also backed up with this primary skill in bowling as he picked up 2/30, becoming the third player after Chris Gayle and Shane Watson to score a century and take 2 or more wickets with the ball.
Here are some other statistical milestones achieved during the RR and KKR match
· Sunil Narine is the first player in IPL to take 100 wickets and score a century.
· Powell-Buttler’s 57-run partnership for the 7th wicket is the highest partnership for the 7th wicket or lower against KKR in the IPL
· Yuzvendra Chahal bowled his most expensive spell in IPL – 1/54
· Sunil Narine became the third KKR batter to score a century in IPL
· KKR hit 33 and RR hit 32 boundaries which is the second and third most boundaries hit in an innings at Eden Gardens in an IPL game
