It was just another day at work for Jake Fraser-McGurk. The 22-year-old from Australia smashed 78 off 24 in the powerplay, the third-most by any batter in the IPL. He showed no mercy whatsoever, even hitting Jasprit Bumrah for 18 runs in an over. JFM eventually got out for 84 off 27.
Hope makes his presence felt
Shai Hope not only registered his highest IPL score but also did it at an impressive strike rate of 241.18. The West Indian batter sent five maximums in his 17-ball 41 and ensured the scoring rate didn’t go down after JFM’s blistering innings.
Stubbs continues his dominance in death overs
Tristan Stubbs has arguably been the best batter in death overs in IPL 2024. Amongst batters who have faced at least 40 balls in this phase, Stubbs (166 off 65) has the best strike rate (255.4) this season.
Even on April 27 (Saturday), the South African batter smacked 48* off 25 deliveries and propelled DC to their highest IPL total - 257/4. Stubbs hit Luke Wood for five fours and a six in the 18th over.
Tilak is having a good season
The young left-hander has been MI’s most consistent batter this season. Mumbai lost their top-three inside the first six overs but Tilak stood tall and scored 63 off 32. In IPL 2024, no other batter has scored more runs than Tilak (247 @ 61.75, SR 163.6) in the middle overs.
This was Tilak's sixth fifty in the IPL and all of those have come in the losing cause.
Best IPL figures for Rasikh Salam
The 24-year-old got the wickets of Hardik Pandya, Nehal Wadhera and Mohammad Nabi and finished with figures of 3/34. He was the only DC bowler to end with an economy of less than 11. He was the difference-maker in the second innings, as DC won by just 10 runs.
