Conway was expected to be fit for the second half but his recovery hasn't gone as expected

Chennai Super Kings, on April 18 (Thursday) announced Richard Gleeson as Devon Conway's replacement for the remainder of the 2024 Indian Premier League

Conway, who sustained a thumb injury before the tournament, was expected to be fit for the second half but his recovery hasn't gone as expected.

The left-hander from New Zealand was one of CSK's most consistent batters in the last two editions, amassing 924 runs @ 48.63 and a strike rate of 141.28. In his absence, the Men in Yellow have given the spot to Rachin Ravindra.

The 36-year-old paceman from England, Gleeson has featured in six T20Is, picking up nine wickets at an economy of 8.9. Overall, the right-armer has 101 wickets in 90 T20s at an economy of 8.18.

Gleeson will serve as a back-up for Mustafizur Rahman who is set to depart to Bangladesh after May 1. The left-arm seamer is enjoying a terrific run of form at the moment, having taken 10 wickets in five matches at an average of 18.30.

Chennai have won four of their six encounters and are next scheduled to play Lucknow Super Giants on April 19.
