Carlos Brathwaite, the captain of Manchester Originals, says that they had a slow start and credits London as they played well. About the spinners, he says that it was good to see them play well and the wicket was not a raging turner. States that they have a couple of games coming and they will look to win them and get into some rhythm. Shares that it was nice to play with the crowd backing them. Laughs and says that this format is just very quick.
Brad Wheal is the HERO OF THE MATCH for his 4 wickets, he says that it feels amazing and it feels good to get a win. Adds that bowling in pressure situations is what they look for. Goes onto say that the pitch played well and it was a good game for them. Tells that it was a great experience and he is enjoying every bit of it.
The bowling from London Spirit was dominated by spinners at first. Mohammad Nabi took 2 wickets while Mason Crane took 1. Roelof van der Merwe had an off day but the others covered for him. The game hung in balance in the death but Brad Wheal took big wickets to push the Originals further back. He was well supported by Blake Cullen, who took the wicket of Carlos Brathwaite. Some brilliant death bowling helped London Spirit get over the line!
Manchester Originals did not have the best of starts as they lost Philip Salt, Joe Clarke and Colin Munro quite cheaply. After that, Colin Ackermann and Tom Lammonby put on a really good stand to keep them in the game. Tom Lammonby fell and Carlos Brathwaite came to the crease. Ackermann got to his fifty and Brathwaite hit a few boundaries to make sure that the required rate does not get out of control. Ackermann fell and then they needed 17 in 11 balls. Braithwaite tried his best but lost his wicket and then the Originals needed 9 from 5. That was the final nail as they fell short by 6 runs.
What a game! What a thriller and what a way for London Spirit to get their first win of the competition. The game could have gone in any direction but London Spirit held their nerves to spoil Manchester Originals' party!

Brad Wheal to Fred Klaassen ,OUT! HIT-WICKET! That is a brilliant performance from Wheal and London Spirit win their first game of the tournament. Low full toss on middle, Klaassen looks to flick but he goes way behind in his crease to do so and hits the stumps with his boot. LONDON SPIRIT WIN BY 6 RUNS.
Fred Klaassen is in. A biggie from him and the Manchester Originals will tie this game.

Brad Wheal to Tom Hartley ,OUT! RUN OUT! Harrison is short and now Manchester Originals will need 7 in 1 ball. Low full toss outside off, Hartley looks to drive but it goes off the outer half to third man. They had to come back for two and they take off. Blake Cullen collects and throws it to Adam Rossington who whips the bails off. The third umpire is called for and the replays show Hartley is short.
Is that a run out? Replays show that the bat is short, before the bails light up. Will be out.
