David Willey, Northern Superchargers skipper, he says it was a complete performance in a must-win game. Praises John Simpson for how he batted and hopes that he does that in the next game too. Adds that every game is a must-win game for them. Says that Adam Lyth and Harry Brook are healthy and missing them is not ideal but the other players did step up.
Carlos Brathwaite, Manchester Originals skipper, he says that it was a bad performance. Adds that he has never seen so many catches dropped and they were very poor in the field. Says that some of the players were not able to handle the crowd pressure.
John Simpson is the HERO OF THE MATCH, he says that they needed a win in this game and the coach said to go out there and take the game on. Adds that they started slow and got used to the wicket after which they went hard at the ball. Says that keeping to Adil Rashid and Mujeeb Ur Rahman is a great challenge as they are two amazing spinners.
Northern Superchargers had the cushion of 200 runs but their bowlers bowled very well too. None of their bowlers were too expensive and most importantly, they held on to the catches. All the bowlers except for Brydon Carse took wickets and it was a team performance by them with the ball. Ben Raine took 3 while Adil Rashid and David Willey took 2 each.
Manchester Originals had to get off to a flier if they wanted to chase this down but it did not happen as they lost wickets regularly. No one from the top order stayed in the middle for long and that is not something you want while chasing such a massive target. Carlos Brathwaite did hit a few boundaries but when he fell, the target was well outside their reach. In the end, they fell short by a big margin. Their NRR will take a big hit due to this loss.
A complete dominance by Northern Superchargers! They batted brilliantly, put on a massive score and then the bowlers defended it. A special night for Northern Superchargers but a game to forget for Manchester Originals.
