Right then!! That is all we have from this game! We are into the final stages of the group matches. We have an exciting match lined up for tomorrow as Trent Rockets take on Manchester Originals. Both are in contention for the Qualification so expect a cracking contest. The action begins at 7 pm local (1800 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye.
London Spirit had a great start with the ball as they managed to get Jason Roy and Sunil Narine in the first 10 balls and put the opposition on the back foot straightaway, courtesy of fine bowling performance at the start from Roelof van der Merwe. Brad Wheal was outstanding as he picked 2 wickets and gave away just 23 runs. However, van der Merwe was hit for plenty when he came back to bowl his next set, which proved to be the turning point of the match. The leggie Mason Crane was good too, but the other bowlers did not manage to keep the pressure on Oval Invincibles batters. Ravi Bopara came into bowling at the latter part of the innings and provided the breakthrough but Laurie Evans had some different plans to take the game deep and finish it off in style.
If Oval Invincibles want to thank someone it should be Laurie Evans, this bloke has played a blinder and took his team over the line. Earlier Invincibles started dreadfully as they lost Roy, Narine, and Ingram in quick succession. They were 32 for 3 inside the Powerplay but then came the partnership of Jacks and Evans. They went all guns blazing and made sure the required run rate was under control. They stitched a 57 runs partnership but Jacks went back as he missed his half-century by 6 runs. Wickets were tumbling at one end but Evans stood his ground as he played a match-defining innings to keep Oval Invincibles in contention for Qualification. Their positive net run rate could play an important role as well for qualification.
Laurie Evans has single-handedly taken Oval Invincibles, one step closer to the qualification. What a blinder he has played today. Just superb. For his superb innings, he is our Hero of the match, he says it always feels good to contribute in a win and loves to finish games off for his team. Adds that the home advantage is huge and thanks to the crowd for coming for the support.
