Southern Brave skipper, James Vince is up for a chat - He says that they were not sure how the wicket would play so they added an extra seamer in the side. Adds that the bowlers have been brilliant and a lot of credit must go to them. Feels that it was a complete performance going into the all-important final and they are really looking forward to it. Credits Quinton de Kock and also the other batters as they have won some of the matches on their own. Tells that they are hopeful that they put in a good performance against the dangerous Birmingham team at Lord's. He adds that they would want to save the celebration for 24 more hours and they will rest well before the final.
George Garton, HERO OF THE MATCH, says it is a nice feeling to go into the final. Adds that it was nice to put a performance in the eliminator and says it was nice to put his hand up and take his team to the final. Says that they bowled well as a unit and all the bowlers contributed brilliantly and their all-round performance was top notch and they are really happy with the win. Mentions that in the short format it's all about getting on a roll and tells that winning is a habit. Feels that tonight was his night. Hopes that they can carry the momentum in the final.
Earlier in the day, Southern Brave bowlers set the tone by restricting Trent Rockets to a well below par score of 96. Each and every bowler chipped in with wickets except for Jake Lintott but his catch off Samit Patel cannot be overlooked as 'Catches win Matches'. The bowlers did their job and the batters chased down the total without breaking a sweat.
With a paltry score of 96, there was pretty much nothing the Trent Rockets bowlers could do. Marchant de Lange did manage to scalp Quinton de Kock early and got rid of Davies as well, Matthew Carter also picked up a wicket but apart from that nothing helped their cause. They struggled with the bat earlier and couldn't do justice with the ball either. They were not good in the field as well. It was just a bad day at the office and with that, their campaign comes to an end.
Chasing a well below par score of 97, Stirling started the innings with a boundary and continued to attack later. The southpaw, Quinton de Kock departed early but the skipper, James Vince came in and looked in a hurry as he smashed 14 runs off Rashid Khan's set of 5. At the end of the Powerplay, 50 runs were already scored. After that, Stirling got out and Davies followed him too but Vince made sure there are no more hiccups and cruised his side to victory as Southern Brave won by 7 wickets with 32 balls to spare.
What a win for Southern Brave! They have been by far the better side today and have outplayed Trent Rockets in all the departments. The target of 97 was never going to trouble them and Southern Brave will play Birmingham Phoenix in the Final.
