Birmingham Phoenix Women will feel that they missed out on this game. They did everything they could with the blade, but when it came to defending the score, they just could not handle the assault by Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt. They got a wicket early on, but after that, were under the pump for most of the innings. They got some relief when they run out Dunkley, but Wyatt ensured that Sophia's efforts did not go in vain. Abtaha Maqsood was the pick of the lot, as she went for lesser runs, but otherwise, all of their bowlers had a tough outing.
It was not the easiest of run chases, as they were chasing a total of 140. They started off in the worst manner as Smriti Mandhana lost her wicket in just ball number 8. What came next was a showcase of cricketing shots, first, Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt went on to raise a 60-run stand, where Dunkley was the aggressor and Wyatt played the role of second fiddle perfectly. But, just when things were going smoothly, an unfortunate run out, meant the end of the road for Dunkley. It did not matter though, as Wyatt decided to wreak havoc, and with Stafanie Taylor by her side, Wyatt went hammer and tongs. She kept scoring the boundaries and also reached her 50 in the process. and took her side home, winning by 8 wickets, with 18 balls to spare.
The unbeaten train of Southern Brave Women goes on here, as Danni Wyatt leads her team to yet another victory. Looks like they have no intentions to stop as they have won their third game on the trot, and the wait to see them lose a game, will go on.
