Right. That ends proceedings from this game. But, we are not done with all the action from The Hundred now, are we? The game between Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave in the Men's Hundred is lined up next. That game will begin at 7 pm local (6 pm GMT). Do join us for that. Cheers!
Sophia Dunkley is the Hero of the Match! She says it was an outstanding performance. Adds that they defended it really well. Mentions it was not an easy wicket to bat on and to get any runs on the board was a bonus. Mentions there were different players who shone at different times. Adds that she aims to take a game at a time, but playing for England is her first priority.
Sublime. That is the word that you would pick to talk about Brave's bowling display. They had just 116 to defend, and they have won this game by 30 runs, which speaks volumes of how well they have played. Amanda-Jade Wellington was on fire and there was no stopping her, as she ended with figures of 20-11-12-4, which were the best figures for a bowler in The Women's Hundred, 2021, so far. Lauren Bell supported her well, as she kept things tight and also took a couple of late wickets, which saw her end with 3 to her name. Anya Shrubsole took only one, but she helped build the pressure early on. In the end, it was a well-deserved victory!
Oval Invincibles Women started off in the right manner, as they scored a couple of boundaries and looked in good touch. But, all of that was ended quickly, as Georgia Adams was hunted down. Fran Wilson was sent back shortly after. Marizanne Kapp and skipper, Dane Van Niekerk were looking in good touch, but once this stand was broken, it was a procession for OVI-W. They kept losing wickets on one end and their skipper kept their hopes alive, from the other end. But, once she fell, the game was quickly shut out by SOB-W.
What a bowling display this has been by the Southern Brave Women. Even though they did not have a lot of runs to defend, they have shown their skill and have done exceptionally well to win this clash. They have booked their place in the finals with a sparkling display, which sees them beat Oval Invincibles Women by 30 runs.
