Mohammad Rizwan, the Multan Sultans skipper, says that his batting has been good and he is putting in a lot of effort. Adds that they lacked the momentum when they were playing back in Karachi but that has changed in this leg. Further adds that each and everyone is performing well and that is a happy headache to have.
Shan Masood is the MAN OF THE MATCH, he says it makes your job easier when the other batsmen also hit all over the ground. Adds that he considers himself a learner and always looks to keep improving his game and help his team whenever required.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Quetta Gladiators skipper, says that they bowled well, but were not able to have a good start with the bat today. Adds that in this season, the team was on the back foot because most of the players missed out due to injuries or some other issues. Further adds that they tried various combinations which disturbed their chemistry.
... The Presentation ...
Earlier in the day, Shan Masood started the Multan innings in style and set the tone at the start. There were a few wickets in the middle overs but Johnson Charles played a good knock to get them over 180. For Quetta, they had a tough day with ball and conceded too many free runs.
The Multan Sultans were right on the money with the ball. They bowled in the right channels and rarely conceded any free runs. Imran Khan, Blessing Muzarabani and Sohail Tanvir took wickets upfront to rock the Quetta Gladiators' top order. And then came the master leggie, Imran Tahir, he picked up 3 wickets in quick succession to rock the lower order. In the end, Shahnawaz Dhani picked the last wicket to knock the Quetta Gladiators out from the playoffs race.
When you are chasing over 180, you want a solid start to set the tone. But nothing went Quetta's way as they lost wickets in a heap. None of their batters stayed in long enough to threaten the bowlers and because their target was a big one, they couldn't afford too many dot balls. When they tried to hit the boundaries, they lost the wickets. In the end, they fell short by a whopping 110 runs.
A complete routing! Yes, that is what we have just witnessed as Multan Sultans have absolutely trashed Quetta Gladiators. They have won by 110 runs and have knocked Quetta Gladiators out of the play off race.
