Right then! That is all we have from this game! But we have one final game before the day ends. Northern Superchargers will face off against Welsh Fire in a short while from now. So, just switch the tabs and enjoy that game!
James Vince says that the performance on the pitch wasn't ideal. Credits the bowlers for how they bowled. Mentions that it will take time to get used to this format and getting used to the timing aspect will be tough. Says that they were looking to take things deep with the ball and hope that Trent Rockets lose a wicket, but the batters played really well and the required rate went down.
Lewis Gregory says that is a nice way to start the competition. Adds that the bowlers set up the win by keeping Southern Brave to a below-par score. Says that Marchant de Lange can bowl first and it is nice to see someone bowl fast and straight. Mentions that Colin de Grandhomme can tonk the ball so they made a plan for him and he is glad that it worked. Mentions that they bowled really well in the middle overs and the spinners squeezed in a few overs without going for much. Adds that this format keeps one's brain busy. Further adds that there isn't a lot we can do due to restrictions but they train well together and spend time at the hotel.
No surprise that Marchant de Lange is the HERO OF THE MATCH, he says that he is really delighted with his performance. Adds that it always feels great to get a wicket of your first ball. Says that it is a new format, but he is looking to stick to the basics and adapt on the go.
Southern Brave needed early wickets and they did get one as George Garton castled Alex Hales for a golden duck. But after that, nothing went their way. The target wasn't the big to defend but given their bowling line up, one would had expected them to put a better fight. Tymal Mills and Danny Briggs bowled economically but wickets was what they needed and obviously they didn't get any after the first one.
An easy run chase and we have our first one-sided game of the tournament. Trent Rockets started poorly, losing Alex Hales early but after that, it was all about Trent Rockets as Dawid Malan and D'Arcy Short started slowly as they were just aiming at rotating the strike but once they settled down, they started to attack and got their fifties. They eventually romped home with 9 wickets in hand and with 18 balls to spare. Trent Rockets have made quite a statement with this win and this is really pleasing.
A convincing victory for Trent Rockets. First, Marchant de Lange led with the ball with his 5-wicket haul to restrict Southern Brave to 126 and then Dawid Malan led with the bat to get them over the line with ease.
