Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Will Jacks was at his sizzling best during Oval Invincibles’ nine-wicket win over Manchester Originals, on August 9 (Saturday). The all-rounder first bowled a solid five-ball set, where he only conceded nine runs, with two dot balls against well-set Phil Salt and Mark Chapman.
However, the bigger of his contributions came in the run chase, when he blew the Originals’ bowling unit to smithereens, smashing 61 off 26 balls. The MI all-rounder opened the batting for Invincibles, and immediately took the attack to England’s greatest-ever red-ball bowler, Sir James Anderson, with a six off the second ball.
Jacks didn’t stop there and hit a boundary in the same set to show early intent. During the entire run chase, the all-rounder seemed to have an affinity towards the former England bowling mentor, with multiple fours.
The 26-year-old then took on Lewis Gregory, against whom he smashed 20 runs, off just six balls. While Gregory did get Jacks out eventually, the right-hander had inflicted a lot of damage by then, with a 26-ball 61, consisting of ten fours and two sixes. Invincibles won the clash quite easily, chasing down 129 in just 57 balls, with nine wickets to spare, reaching the top of the points table after two monstrous wins.
