Rajasthan Royals (RR) seamer Sandeep Sharma was having a great game against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on April 16 (Wednesday), until he came to bowl the final over of the first innings.
Sandeep had conceded 14 runs in his first three overs and was yet to be hit for a boundary. But it all changed in the 20th over, with the 31-year-old leaking 19 runs in an over. DC’s Tristan Stubbs smoked him for a six and a four but that wasn’t the worst thing Sandeep did in that over.
The right-armer bowled four wides and one no-ball, making it an 11-ball over - the joint-longest over in IPL history. Tushar Deshpande, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur are the other three bowlers who have bowled an 11-ball over in the IPL, with the latter doing it earlier this season.
11 balls - Tushar Deshpande vs LSG, Chennai, 2023
11 balls - Mohammed Siraj vs MI, Bengaluru, 2023
11 balls - Shardul Thakur vs KKR, Kolkata, 2025
11 balls - Sandeep Sharma vs DC, Delhi, 2025
The Capitals scored 188/5 in their 20 overs, becoming the first team not to touch the 200-run mark in the first innings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
