Sanju Samson continues to rip apart bowling units in the ongoing Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2025 after a rare failure in his first appearance. Following his spectacular match-winning 121, the right-hander carried on that rich vein of form with another swashbuckling 89 against Thrissur Titans, on August 26 (Tuesday).
Unlike the first clash, Samson opened the batting for Kochi Blue Tigers, alongside Vinoop Manoharan. While Manoharan got out cheaply, Samson ensured that the Tigers kept their run-rate up and going, smashing a stroke-filled 89 off just 46 balls, with four fours and as many as nine sixes.
Samson’s knock, which came at a strike rate of 193.47, was the real reason why the Tigers went on to post 188/7 in their 20 overs against the Titans. During his stay at the crease, the RR captain smashed five sixes through the leg-side, and smoked four through the off-side region.
Briefly, Sanju batted alongside his brother, Saly Samson, with whom he stitched a nine-ball 30-run stand. Amidst the IPL 2026 trade talks, Samson seems to be in the best form and shape of his life.
It would be interesting to see if RR indeed trade their skipper to CSK, as speculated.
