135 Runs @ 22.5, 0 Fifties: This 4.20 Crore IPL Star Continues To Struggle in DPL 2025

The highest score for the batter this season has been 39

Runs and average-wise, Nitish Rana had one of his worst seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Turning up for his new franchise, the Rajasthan Royals (RR), who bought them for INR 4.20 crore, Rana was expected to replicate the success he had at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) over the years, as a reliable middle-order batter.

Rana managed just 217 runs, albeit at an impressive strike rate of 161.94 - his best in an IPL season, but barring his two fifties in the season, there weren't many impactful knocks.

The Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 would have been a terrific platform for Rana to get back into form and show that IPL 2025 was a mere blip. However, it has not turned up that way.

In his eight innings in the tournament so far, Rana has scored just 135 runs at 22.5, but once again has had a good strike rate of 157.

His best knock perhaps came in West Delhi Lions' first match of the tournament, where he smashed 39 off just 15, which included four big sixes. Just when one thought it would get better from there, it never really did.

Credit where it's due, though, he played a useful hand in a rain-curtailed game against South Delhi Superstarz, hitting 25 off 8 in a seven-over contest

Rana-led West Delhi Lions are on the verge of making it through to the playoffs, and both his side and also RR would hope that he turns a corner in the remainder of the tournament.
