14-year-old Ira Jadhav becomes first Indian to score triple ton in white-ball cricket

Jadhav scored 344* runs in just 156 deliveries against Meghalaya in the U19 Women’s One Day Trophy

It was a tempestuous day for records in the U19 Women’s One Day Trophy, which was being played in Alur near Bengaluru. 14-year-old Ira Jadhav from Mumbai became the first Indian to score a triple century in white-ball cricket.

Jadhav, one of the three stand-by players in the Indian U19 Women’s squad for World Cup 2025, scored 346* off just 157 deliveries against Meghalaya at a strike rate of 220.38. Her mammoth innings included 42 fours and 16 sixes.

Notably, four women cricketers before her have scored a double century at the U19 level. These include the current India captain, Smriti Mandhana (224 not out in 2013), Raghvi Bist (219 not out), Jemimah Rodrigues (202 not out), and Sanika Chalke (200).

Chalke will represent India at the upcoming U19 World Cup, while Bist has already made her debut for the Indian senior team against the West Indies recently.

Hurley Gala also scored 116(79) for Mumbai, and the team ended with 563/3 in 50 overs — the highest-ever score in the competition and for Mumbai.

Jadhav also participated in the recently organised Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 mini auction at a base price of INR 10 Lakh but went unsold in the auction.
