18-year-old CSK star smashes quickfire hundred in Ranji Trophy

New Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recruit Andre Siddarth continued his outrageous start to first-class cricket, smashing his maiden ton in the encounter against Chandigarh in Salem on January 23 (Thursday).
Batting at No.6, the 18-year-old walked in with Tamil Nadu in a spot of bother at 126/4, having lost four quick wickets after being 101/0 at one stage. The teenager played a counter-attacking knock of the highest order as he brought up his century in just 135 balls. Siddarth’s knock featured 10 fours and three sixes before he eventually departed for 106.
It’s been an outrageous start to red-ball cricket for the 18-year-old. He entered this clash with 372 runs under his belt in just six innings, averaging 93.00. On the back of this ton, Siddarth has now posted five fifty-plus scores in just seven first-class innings, with his scores reading 38, 66*, 41, 55*, 94, 78 and now 106.

Siddarth is the nephew of former Tamil Nadu batter Sridharan Sharath, who played 139 first-class games for the state, scoring 8700 runs at an average of 51.17.
