2-3 Players Cannot Win You Trophies: Former CSK Star Launches ATTACK On RCB
Shadab Jakati didn’t hold his horses, stating that CSK won IPL titles only because they functioned as a team
Shadab Jakati is one of the few players who have played cricket for both Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL. Whilst he was part of the title-winning CSK setup, he wasn’t even close to a silverware with RCB.
So, why do CSK have five titles after 17 seasons of IPL and RCB have none? Jakati explains that the reason lies in how the two franchises have been set up, citing that RCB only focuses on two or three players, which wasn’t the case with CSK.
"It's a team game. If you want to win trophies, the team needs to play like a unit. 2-3 players cannot help you win the trophy. Chennai had a strong group of Indian players and some decent foreign players. It is important to get your combination. When I was in RCB, they would focus on 2-3 players only," Jakati told Sportskeeda.
Not just that, Jakati also made a big statement, going on to say that there was ‘no camaraderie’ in the RCB dressing room, as players did not gel properly.
"There was a huge difference as far as team management, dressing room atmosphere is concerned. Players were very good, but there was no camaraderie, the players did not gel properly," Jakati added.
"As I said, the role of the team management is quite significant. Chennai's management was very good actually. They looked after their players nicely. These are the small things which make a big difference. So, these are the differences I felt in CSK and RCB," he added.
CSK will take on RCB in IPL 2025 on March 28 (Friday), with there being some sort of bad blood between the two franchises after last year’s final group stage fixture.
