Sarfaraz Khan did not make the cut for India’s Test tour of England, but he was still in the news for all the right reasons thanks to his incredible fitness transformation, with the 27-year-old approximately losing 17 kgs in just over two months. Just over a month back, he shared a transformation picture that broke the internet.
The ongoing Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament is Sarfaraz’s first outing since his fitness transformation, and he’s begun the new season in incredible fashion, registering consecutive tons. Sarfaraz began the tournament with a 138 (and 36) against TNCA XI on August 18, and today he followed that up with a 111 against Haryana.
The game took place at the MRF Pachaiyappas ground in Chennai, and the right-hander played a lone hand for Mumbai on a tricky surface. Mumbai found themselves 84/4 at one point but Sarfaraz, batting at No.5, held together the innings to bring up an impressive ton. He posted 111 off just 112 balls, smoking 9 fours and 5 sixes, where no other Mumbai Top 7 batter managed to cross the 50-run mark.
Should he carry this form over to the Duleep Trophy, where he’ll be representing the West Zone, the right-hander could slot right back into the XI for the home Tests against West Indies and South Africa.
