unbeaten fifty from KL Rahul (71* off 57), helps Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)
overcome Mumbai Indians (MI) by 7 wickets in Match 9 of the 2019 Indian Premier
League (IPL) at Mohali. In pursuit of 177, KXIP managed just 38 runs in the
powerplay, but had all wickets intact. Chris Gayle showed his prowess of
clearing the fence, but Rahul occupied one end and was not going in a
particularly spectacular rate. However, Mayank Agarwal and then David Miller
relieved some pressure with their hitting and Rahul too got into the groove,
looking determined to take his team home. In the end, it was an easy win for KXIP,
who went on to win the match with 3 balls to spare.
The match started off with KXIP having a slender 52% chance of winning, however, with the way MI were going about things, the win percentage slowly started to tilt in their favour. After putting up 176 runs on the board, it was MI who were leading the charts with 66% chance of winning the match as opposed to 33% for KXIP. At the end of the 12th over, the win % for KXIP reached 50 when Rahul and Agarwal were batting and from there on, it did not go below that.
