The 2025 Men’s Asia Cup will be played in the 20-over format and it will be hosted by India, the Times of India reported on July 29 (Monday).

The 2023 edition of Men’s Asia Cup was played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka and it was India who won the tournament. It was played in the 50-over format, keeping the 2023 ODI World Cup in mind.

However, the 2027 edition will once again be played in the ODI format and will be hosted by Bangladesh. All these competitions will feature six teams - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and a sixth team (winner of the qualifying tournament).

The next edition of Women’s Asia Cup will also be played in the T20 format and it will happen in 2026. The 2024 edition got over on Sunday, with Sri Lanka defeating India by eight wickets in the finale at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

The Asian Cricket Council's release of an Invitation for Expressions of Interest (IEOI) document said: "The details, including but not limited to the schedules, dates, years, formats and/or venues, regarding the ACC Tournaments given below are tentative and may be subject to change at anytime at the absolute discretion of ACC and without any liability to ACC.”

Meanwhile, there will also be four editions of the Under-19 Men's Asia Cup in this period.
