At the age of 64, Portugal’s Joanna Child became the second-oldest player to make a T20I debut. Gibraltar's Sally Barton (66 years and 334 days) still remains the oldest T20I debutant.
Child made her debut during a recent three-match T20I series against Norway, but couldn’t do much. The 64-year-old scored two runs in one innings and conceded 11 runs in four deliveries.
Portugal captain Sarah Foo-Ryland called Child "an inspiration to many cricketers in the country."
Portugal won the first T20I by nine wickets, but Norway won the second encounter and levelled the series. In the third T20I, Portugal emerged victorious by 16 runs and won the series 2-1.
With 127 runs across three innings, Foo-Ryland finished as the highest run-scorer in the series, while Gabriella Sequeira (5 wickets @ 10.20) took the most wickets.
