The 2025 edition of the Andhra Premier League gets underway tomorrow, and it’s a tournament that’s provided the IPL with plenty of exports. Shaikh Rasheed (CSK), Satyanarayana Raju (MI), Tripurana Vijay (DC) and Pyla Avinash (PBKS) got picked at the IPL 2025 auction on the back of stellar APL 2024 performances, and there is no doubt that there’ll be a ton of players who will be itching to impress IPL teams this time around as well.
We look at a few batters who will be closely tracked by teams ahead of IPL 2026.
24-year-old Gutta Rohit was one of the most explosive middle-order batters in APL 2024. Representing the Rayalaseema Kings, the right-hander scored 166 runs at a strike rate of 167, smashing 11 sixes predominantly batting at No.5 or lower.
Rohit hit a six every 9 balls in APL 2024, which was the third-best among all batters who hit 10 or more sixes in the competition.
He’s representing Tungabhadra Warriors this time around, and another strong season will surely get him close to IPL selection.
A left-hander and a wicketkeeper, SDNV Prasad is one of the most highly rated youngsters in Andhra cricket. He made his T20 debut for Andhra in the 2024 SMAT, and struck at nearly 150 in the four innings he played. In a clash against Uttar Pradesh that featured a strong bowling attack in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohsin Khan and Vipraj Nigam amongst others, Prasad hit 34* off 22 batting at No.6.
Prasad didn’t quite light up the stage in APL 2024, scoring 111 runs at a SR of 127, but his potential is unquestionable. There is a reason he was the fourth-most expensive buy at the APL 2025 auction, at 9.50 lakh.
A breakthrough APL 2025 will skyrocket his chances of getting picked in the IPL, considering he can keep wickets as well.
All of 19 years of age, Muvvala Yuvan is one of the most exciting prospects in Andhra cricket. He played for the Vizag Warriors in APL 2024 and, batting in the middle-order, hammered 139 runs at an average of nearly 70 and a strike rate of 180.5. He maintained a strike rate over 200 in three different games, with the pick of his knocks being an unbeaten 29-ball 65 against Uttarandhra Lions.
Already someone with a ‘next big thing’ reputation in Andhra cricket, Yuvan could truly catapult to the next level with a strong showing in APL 2025. An IPL contract could just come calling.
