Follow UsThe fourth edition of the Andhra Premier League (APL) is all set to begin on Friday, 8th August 2025 with Kakinada Kings taking on Amaravathi Royals in the tournament opener in Vizag.
The tournament has been an excellent feeder system to the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a number of APL players have made it to the biggest cricket competition. Satyanarayana Raju and Pyla Avinash were the two APL talents from last season who managed to sign their first IPL contract with MI and PBKS franchise respectively.
Looking into the bowlers in APL 2025, there are some notable pacers and spinners who can be signed in the IPL 2026 Auction later this year.
Harishankar Reddy is one of the top players of the APL as the right arm pacer did well in the previous three seasons of the APL taking 25 wickets in 17 games at a bowling SR of 14.9. He is perfect frontline bowler who can give good starts by dismissing openers early and getting lethal in the slog overs by taking wickets through yorkers, leg cutters and back of hand deliveries.
He has a prior experience of being a part of IPL as he was part of the championship winning team of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2021. He will be keen to get back into the mix and get his next IPL deal by performing well in APL 2025.
Yeddala Reddy managed to have a breakout season in APL by stepping up. The right arm pacer had a good APL 2024 taking nine wickets in five games at a terrific bowling SR of 10.2. He managed to take wickets across three phases at a superb bowling SR.
The 26-year-old pacer will be hoping to deliver in APL 2025 and possibly sign his first IPL contract in the upcoming IPL 2026 auction.
Gavvala Mallikarjuna did brilliantly in APL 2024 as the 21-year-old left-arm spinner managed to take eight wickets at an excellent economy of 6.5. He had done well in keeping the batters quiet in middle overs as he has taken 11 of 19 wickets in between overs 7 and 15.
The left arm spinner is an orthodox bowler as he has taken most of his wickets in APL with traditional left arm spin. He will be hoping to have a good APL 2025 and strengthen his chances of impressing the IPL scouts.
