3 CSK IPL 2025 Flops Who Could Turn It Around In IPL 2026

Certain players which the franchise banked upon were not able to deliver in 2025, but here are 3 of them who can turn it around in IPL 2026

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 did not turn out to be great for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In fact, it was their worst season ever, with them finishing at the 10th spot in the points table, their lowest ever in the history of the league.

It was mostly because certain players, which the franchise banked upon, were not able to deliver according to their potential. However, there is a chance that, given the talent that they possess, they can turn it around in the next season- IPL 2026. Here are three such players.

Rachin Ravindra

The New Zealand all-rounder hasn’t really been able to click in the T20 format despite having a superior ODI and Test record. The left-handed batter struck at 128 to make 191 runs in the eight innings that he batted in IPL 2025.

Him scoring only a single fifty despite batting at the top of the order was a huge problem that he could do well to solve. Recently, Ravindra scored his third T20I fifty while batting against Zimbabwe and looked in better touch playing for Washington Freedom in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025.

Ravindra scored 263 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 171 in MLC, showing clear indications of improvement in his hitting abilities.

Sam Curran

Sam Curran was supposed to be the problem-solver for CSK, like he did in the 2021 season for the franchise where they went on to lift the trophy. However, he himself became a problem, scoring just 114 runs with the bat in five innings and taking a solitary wicket, becoming a super flop with the ball in hand.

Post the IPL though, Curran has shown great improvement with the ball in the Vitality Blast, picking 21 wickets in just 13 innings at an outstanding average of 16.46. He batted well too, striking at 135 and scoring 296 runs for Surrey at an average of 21.

Matheesha Pathirana

Matheesha Pathirana was not able to repeat in 2025 what he did in the IPL seasons of 2024 and 2023. In both those seasons, Pathirana picked up 13 and 19 wickets respectively. However, those wickets came at an average of 13 and 19.52 respectively as well, with his economy rate being below 8. But in the 2025 season, despite picking 13 wickets, his average was 32 and his economy well above 10.

The Sri Lankan could do well to correct his mistakes of bowling too many wides and bring some more control into his lines and once again be the game changer for his team.
