The Hundred competition for both the men and the women began on August 5, right after the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy ended. It’s a huge competition, with some of the best T20 cricketers in the world participating in it along with the huge volume of local English talent.
With many Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises also owning stakes in the Hundred teams, the interest has risen in India as well. It’s great news for the fans in India that there are many IPL stars who are part of the Hundred.
Let’s look at three players from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who would also be playing the Hundred this year:
Curran had one of his poorest seasons in the IPL this time after having been bought for INR 2.4 crore. He could score only 114 runs in the five games he played for CSK at 135.7; however, what would hurt CSK fans more would be the fact that he could pick only one wicket in the five games.
He has been in and out of the England side for some time due to his inconsistent performances, and would hope that this season for the Oval Invincibles would change his fortunes. The good news is that he has already begun the season nicely, and put on an all-round show, with figures of 3/18 with the ball, and 14 off 9 runs with the bat in the opening game against London Spirit.
Noor Ahmad, who was bought by CSK for INR 10 Crore in the auction, had a splendid performance in the 2025 IPL season as he was second on the highest wicket-takers list with 24 scalps at an economy of just 8.16.
His left-arm wrist spin was quite popular in the Hundred draft as well, and he will be playing the 2025 season for the Manchester Originals. Look out for his sharply turning deliveries that can create havoc against the English batters, especially, who traditionally struggle against spin.
CSK used the Right-to-Match (RTM) card for Ravindra, who was bought at INR 4 crore. However, he had a poor season with the bat, and CSK used him for just eight games, where he scored 191 runs at 128.19.
Ravindra, playing for Manchester, would hope to undo the IPL wrongs in the Hundred and score heavily at the top of the order. A good season here would make him a regular in the league for the next few seasons easily.
