3 CSK Players Who Could Be Picked In India's Squad For Asia Cup 2025

Here are three Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players who could make it to the Asia Cup squad

After the exciting five-match Test series between India and England ended on August 4 (Monday), attention now shifts to T20 cricket. With the T20 World Cup 2026 set to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February, India will start building their squad with the Asia Cup 2025, beginning September 9 in the UAE.

India, the defending T20 World Cup winners, last played a T20I series in February 2025. With no T20I games before the Asia Cup, the selectors are expected to rely on performances from IPL 2025.

Here are three Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players who could make it to the squad:

Shivam Dube

Dube has been a regular part of India’s T20I squad in recent years, and played key knocks on tough pitches during the last T20 World Cup. Known for his power-hitting against spin, he has also improved his game against pace.

In his last two T20I innings, Dube smashed 30 off 13 and 53 off 34 against England. He had a decent IPL 2025 too, scoring 357 runs at an average of 32.45 and a strike rate of 132.2. Given his recent form and experience, Dube is almost certain to be part of the Asia Cup squad.

Khaleel Ahmed

With Jasprit Bumrah likely to miss the tournament, India’s pace options are limited. Arshdeep Singh is expected to lead the attack, with Hardik Pandya supporting in the middle overs. India could use a powerplay bowler and Khaleel fits that role perfectly.

The CSK left-arm pacer has played four T20Is since the last World Cup and impressed with an economy of 7.4. In IPL 2025, he picked up 15 wickets, including a tournament-high 10 wickets in the powerplay, while keeping his economy under 9.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

The CSK captain played only five games in IPL 2025 due to injury but still remains one of India’s most consistent T20 batters. In 17 T20Is for India, he has scored 633 runs at an average of 39.56 and a strike rate of 143.53.

Although India already have several top-order options like Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, and Shubman Gill, Gaikwad’s class and his game against spin in the middle overs make him a dependable backup. He may not be a frontline runner, but could come into the picture if injuries occur.
