Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have always had some of the best Indian T20I talent representing them, whether it be the likes of Suresh Raina or R Ashwin, or even MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja.
However, at the moment, as the selectors gear up to choose a solid squad for the upcoming Asia Cup in the UAE, CSK talent won’t be in the Indian T20I team as it used to be before. Let’s see three such key CSK players who would be missing from India’s Asia Cup squad.
Keeping aside the fact that Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 2025 IPL season was marred due to injury troubles, the CSK skipper hasn’t made a dent in the Indian T20I team selection yet. There are already the likes of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal who are waiting for their turn for selection at the top.
However, with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma batting brilliantly recently, it seems very unlikely that Gaikwad would be able to sneak into the squad, considering that someone like Gill, who has notched up mountains of runs in the IPL, is also waiting to seal his spot.
Khalee Ahmed had a decent 2025 season for CSK, where he picked 15 wickets at an average just below 30 and an economy just below 10. Had Arshdeep Singh not been there and already showing that he’s one level above the other left-arm pacers in the country at the moment, Khaleel could have had a decent chance at selection in the T20I team. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
India have a decent array of fast bowling options as far as the Asia Cup is concerned, and it would be very unlikely that Khaleel gets a shoe-in.
With Hardik Pandya being fit and ready to go, and Nitish Kumar Reddy in the wings already, it seems like the selection days for Shivam Dube on the fast bowling all-rounder quota seem to be over. The tall all-rounder was a vital cog of India’s 2024 T20 campaign, but India now have a lot of all-round options, especially spin-bowling all-rounders like Axar Patel and Washington Sundar doing the job in sub-continent conditions where the T20 World Cup will be played in 2026.
Hence, it would really be a surprise if the selection committee sees a place for Dube in the scheme of things.
