3-Fer With Ball, 75 With Bat: SRH’s New Recruit Shines In Duleep Trophy 2025

The 75, batting at No.7, has helped Central Zone take a decisive first innings lead

Vidarbha’s Harsh Dubey was a largely unknown commodity until last year, but he catapulted into the limelight during the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy, when he set a new all-time record for the most wickets taken in a Ranji Season. Dubey took a whopping 69 wickets in 10 games in the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy, and his efforts propelled Vidarbha all the way to the title.

He then got picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as an injury replacement for Smaran Ravichandran during IPL 2025, and, post that, went on to play for India ‘A’ as well.

For Dubey, the new domestic season has started off on a good note as well as in the semi-final clash between Central Zone and West Zone, the 23-year-old has put up a fine all-round effort, taking 3 wickets with the ball while scoring 75 with the bat.

The 75, batting at No.7, has helped Central Zone take a decisive first innings lead, something that’s certain to propel them into the final.

The left-arm spinner also played in the quarter-final against North East Zone, and while he didn’t light up the stage with the bat, he took 2/20 and 2/53 with the ball in hand.

Dubey still has a long way to go, but he’s doing all the right things to be seen as a potential Ravindra Jadeja replacement once the latter hangs his boots from Tests. That, though, is definitely at least one or two years away.

As it stands, the 23-year-old has taken over 100 first-class wickets at an average just over 21.00. In addition, he has 8 first-class fifties next to his name.
