3 IPL 2025 Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Flops Who Can Turn It Around In IPL 2026
These players had very disappointing outings in IPL 2025
After a stunning IPL 2024 campaign in which they not only made it to the final, but revolutionised the league with their aggressive batting, there was a lot of hype surrounding Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) heading into IPL 2025. However, all the hype quickly turned into disappointment as SRH found it difficult to get going, and eventually finished sixth, that too thanks to a late surge.
SRH not making it to the playoffs had to do a lot with some of their key players misfiring, across both departments. We look at some of these names who could turn it around next season, and help the Orange Army make it to the top.
Mohammed Shami
Purchased for INR 10 crore at the mega auction, Mohammed Shami was the single biggest disappointment in IPL 2025. He took 6 wickets at an economy of 11.23 and was so bad that he was dropped mid-way through the IPL by the Sunrisers. A lot of SRH’s planning revolved around Shami - with him being Bhuvi’s replacement - but he turned out to be a liability, and that affected the side a lot, especially considering they largely played on batter-friendly surfaces.
There’s a lot of talk about Shami being released by SRH due to his price, but he might get one more season. And if he does, there’s every possibility that Shami could turn it around. He is a world-class bowler after all, and a fully fit Shami will be an asset even at the age of 35.
Nitish Kumar Reddy
After a breakthrough IPL 2024 that propelled him to new heights, young Nitish Reddy proved to be a shadow of his IPL 2024 self in IPL 2025. He averaged 22 with the bat while striking at 118, and took just 2 wickets all season, bowling a total of only five overs. Again, he was a passenger SRH carried in the team the entire season, with the right-hander able to make no impact whatsoever.
Second season syndrome is a thing in the IPL, we all know that. The good news is that Nitish is still very young and someone who is still learning, so he will be expected to bounce back strongly next season. What will be key from SRH’s perspective is to define his role clearly. At times in IPL 2025, you got the feeling that, with the bat in hand, he was neither here nor there.
Abhinav Manohar
There was a lot of excitement among SRH fans when the side picked up the explosive Abhinav Manohar at the auction, knowing that the Karnataka man was going to add to the team’s explosive batting line-up. However, the signing did not go as per plan as Manohar, in the 5 innings he batted, averaged just 12 and struck at 100.00.
He was not a regular in the side, and was never able to break into the team.
Despite the poor campaign, though, it’s almost a given that SRH will back him to fire the next season. He is one of the most explosive domestic batters in the country and he’s the kind of player who will wreak serious havoc if he gets going.
The next six months, starting with the Maharaja Trophy, will be crucial for Manohar to build back his confidence and get some serious form going.
