SA20 2025: 3 Mumbai Indians (MI) players who will light up the tournament

Here are three players, bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 auction, who can light up the SA20 2025

The third season of the SA20, South Africa’s premier T20 tournament, will get underway on January 9 (Thursday), with the defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape taking on MI Cape Town. This season of the SA20 will also feature many players who will also be part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Here are three players who were bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 auction, who can light up the SA20 2025.

Will Jacks

After a stellar season at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mumbai Indians splurged the big money (INR 5.25 crore) to get the English all-rounder Will Jacks into their setup. MI will have a close eye on the SA20 season, where he's part of the Pretoria Capitals outfit.

Part of the Capitals, Will Jacks has amassed 515 runs in 17 matches in two seasons of the SA20. More importantly, he also has nine wickets to his name with his off-break. This time, the Capitals will be hoping that the Englishman will be the game-changer for them.

Ryan Rickelton

Fresh from his brilliant double century against Pakistan in Tests, Ryan Rickelton would be looking to carry his Test form to the shortest format when he turns up for MI Cape Town in the first match of SA20 2025. Mumbai Indians bought Rickelton for INR 1 Cr, which now looks like a steal, given the kind of form he is in.

With 676 runs at an average of 42.25 and a strike rate of 155.76, Rickelton is already one of the best batters in the SA20’s two-year-long history. Whilst he's already shown his prowess over the last two years for MICT, he will be hoping to make the third season even more special considering that he will be walking into that MI dressing room later this IPL season.

Trent Boult

Trent Boult is still probably the best left-arm quick in world cricket, and SA20 will experience his magic for the first time.

With 271 wickets in 227 matches at an average of 24.9 and an economy rate of 8.1, Boult is almost a legend in T20s. Having featured for Mumbai Indians before, he was bought by the franchise once again in the IPL 2025 auction for a whopping INR 12.5 Cr. MI fans will be glued to their television screen to see what Boult is up to.
