After getting omitted from Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, Mohammad Rizwan had the perfect opportunity to shut the selectors up with his display in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025.
However, in his first match of the season, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ overseas batter Rizwan failed to seize the chance, scoring three off six balls against Barbados Royals. Rizwan walked out in a rather unfamiliar position in T20s, at No.4, and couldn’t inject momentum in the Patriots’ innings, as they went from 32/2 to 45/3 in no time.
The Pakistani batter was beaten all ends by a simple flighted delivery, as his struggling form looked evident. Rizwan hasn’t done a whole lot in the past few innings, with scores of 0, 16, 53, 4, 17 and 0 in the preceding six innings.
At the other end, though, Naseem Shah, who too was left out, put on a nice spell for the Patriots, picking up opposition skipper Rovman Powell’s wicket. Rizwan’s form comes at the worst possible time as the wicketkeeper batter is still Pakistan’s captain in the 50-over format.
