3 Players Who Can Earn IPL Contracts If They Do Well In The Hundred
The Hundred offers a great opportunity for players to perform and increase their demand in the IPL
The Hundred, the shortest format of cricket, is currently underway in England with some of the best white ball cricketers in the world playing in it. With many new buyers, including Indian Premier League (IPL) team owners, investing in the Hundred, the profile of the league and the eyeballs on it around the world are bound to grow.
In that light, it's a great opportunity for many lesser-known or fringe players to perform and increase their demand in the IPL market. Let’s look at three such players:
Ben Dwarshuis
The Australian left-arm pacer has been part of IPL teams in the past but is yet to play a game in the league. He is currently playing for the Northern Super Chargers and would be looking to follow up his brief but effective two-game run in the competition last year, where he took four wickets at an average of 14.
A Big Bash League bowling average of 22.4 and economy of 8.1 suggest that he has a higher ceiling, and a strong Hundred this year can be a game-changer for this left-handed quick as bowlers of his variety and nationality are always in demand in the IPL.
Finn Allen
Finn Allen, who is infamous for being a short-lived firecracker while opening the batting in the shortest format, proved himself and his consistency recently in the Major League Cricket (MLC), where he scored 333 runs at an average of 37 and a strike rate of 225 this year.
Once on song, he can thrash any bowling lineup in the world. Playing with the Southern Braves this season, Allen has a great opportunity to prove to the IPL teams that he can be a worthy investment going forward.
Adam Milne
Adam Milne, who was supposed to be the second coming of Shane Bond, has had an injury-riddled career so far.
This hides the fact that he is one of the best pacers in the history of The Hundred, with 34 scalps in 24 games at an average of just 13.94 and an economy of just 7.11 for the Phoenix. If he can maintain his fitness and bowl nicely this Hundred, Milne’s pace and the fact that it is hard to score against him are good enough to get him an IPL deal.
