The Saurashtra Pro T20 League, which was earlier known as Saurashtra Premier League, will kick off on June 7 with five teams, and a lot of big stars, including the mainstays of the Saurashtra domestic side, will be featuring in the league.
While the likes of Jaydev Unadkat and Chetan Sakariya are part of the competition, there are already renowned Indian Premier League (IPL) players who will star in the league. However, there will be a lot of already established and upcoming Saurashtra talents who will be eager to show their credentials in the league in order to be picked in the IPL.
Let’s see three such players who’ll be keenly watched by the IPL sides.
Prerak Mankad is not a new name in the Indian cricket ecosystem and has been a regular feature of the Saurashtra side in all major domestic competitions. While he went unsold in the 2025 IPL auction, he has played six IPL games, with five of them coming for Lucknow Super Giants and one for Punjab Kings.
His all-round skills offer a lot of value for many IPL sides, as he strikes at 137.9 and bowls at an average below 30 and picks a wicket every 20.6 deliveries in T20 cricket. A solid season here in the Saurashtra Pro T20 League can certainly land him in the sights of the keen-eyed IPL scouts.
Just like Mankad, the 25-year-old Desai has been one of the best domestic players for Saurashtra and is one of the first names on the team sheet for them across formats. He was also selected by Mumbai Indians in 2024 but didn’t get a game.
With a T20 century already to his name and 1125 runs at a strike rate of 138 in the format, a strong performance here in the season will help his chances in the next IPL auction.
With nearly 400 First-class wickets, the quality of Dharmendrasinh Jadeja’s left-arm spin isn’t unknown in the domestic circuit. However, what’s not known is that the other Jadeja from Saurashtra has 61 T20 wickets at an economy of just 6.91.
With a lot of experience and the skills of a seasoned campaigner, Jadeja will not only be one of the star players this season, but also might just be one of the most sought-after players by the IPL scouts.
The likes of Krunal Pandya have shown that finger spin is not just a rubbish skill in T20 cricket, but rather can be a potent force. IPL scouts will keep a keen eye on Jadeja’s performances.
