300-Plus Totals In IPL 2025? BCCI Have Other Ideas
The BCCI have made a couple of major changes in their playing conditions for the IPL 2025
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have lifted the ban on the usage of saliva on ball for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, starting on March 22 (Saturday), reported Cricbuzz.
The decision was made after the IPL 2025 captains meeting on March 20 (Wednesday).
The ICC banned bowlers from using saliva during the COVID-19 pandemic and made the ban permanent in September 2022, and the same thing happened in the IPL.
"The saliva ban has been lifted. Majority of captains were in favour of the move," a top BCCI official told PTI.
During the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami urged the ICC to lift the ban on using saliva on the ball so that bowlers can once again generate reverse swing.
“We are trying (to get reverse swing), but the usage of saliva on the ball is not allowed. We keep appealing that we should be allowed to use saliva so that we can bring reverse swing back into the game and it becomes interesting."
That’s not the only good news for the bowlers ahead of the IPL 2025.
In the second innings of a night game, the bowling team will be given a second ball if needed after the 11th over to reduce the impact of dew.
The umpires will check the condition of the ball after the 11th over and then decide whether to continue with the same ball or get a new one.
This rule won’t be applicable in afternoon games.
