AB de Villiers, who left professional cricket way back in 2021, is still rocking with the bat as he smashed not one but two centuries back to back for the South Africa Champions in the World Championship of Legends 2025.
His latest century, which came in just 39 balls against the Australia Champions team on July 27 (Sunday) at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds, was even more ferocious than the last one, which he scored against the England Champions in Leicester on July 24th. That century had come in 41 balls.
ABD, turning the clock back, hit a few shots which resembled exactly the shots that he played in his prime in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well as at the international level, like his one-handed scoop over short fine leg.
In his knock of 123 off just 46 balls, the 41-year-old hit 15 fours and eight sixes, adding 187 for the first wicket alongside JJ Smuts. In the end, the South African champions posted 241/6 in their 20 overs. It was too hot to handle for the Australian Champions side, which was bowled out for 146, losing the match by 95 runs.
