The Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 turned out to be a huge success, with the inaugural season producing a couple of IPL-worthy players. The organisers have already announced there will be two new teams in DPL 2025, expanding the league from six to eight teams.
The men’s auction for the second season is set to take place in Delhi on July 6 and will feature a stellar line-up of international and IPL stars. Virat Kohli’s nephew and Virender Sehwag’s sons are also part of the auction list.
Here, we look at five marquee players who will feature in the DPL 2025 auction:
Rishabh Pant
The wicketkeeper-batter played one game for Purani Delhi 6 in DPL 2024. The tournament was held in August–September, and India were scheduled to play 10 Tests in the span of four months. As a result, Pant could only participate in one match last season.
India are scheduled to play four home Tests between October and December, and with Pant currently not part of India’s white-ball scheme of things, we could see a lot more of him in DPL 2025.
Ishant Sharma
The tall paceman played the last of his 105 Tests in 2021 but remains active in the IPL. The 36-year-old featured in seven games for Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2025. Ishant didn’t play a single game in DPL 2024, but that could change this season. He could easily take on the role of a player-cum-coach.
Harshit Rana
Another star who didn’t feature last season but will be in massive demand in the upcoming auction. The right-arm seamer has represented India in all three formats but is yet to cement his spot in any of them. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) paceman could be one of the most expensive buys in the auction.
Digvesh Rathi
In DPL 2024, Rathi picked up 14 wickets at an average of 21.7 and an economy rate of 7.8, which earned him an IPL contract with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The spinner was one of the breakout stars of IPL 2025, claiming 14 wickets at an economy of 8.3 despite bowling in high-pressure situations. His ‘Notebook’ celebration was absolute box office.
Priyansh Arya
Another DPL 2024 product who impressed in IPL 2025. The left-handed opener, who famously smashed six sixes in an over during DPL 2024, turned out for runners-up Punjab Kings (PBKS) and hammered 475 runs at a stunning strike rate of 179.24. He even notched up a century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
