Pakistan lost their first wicket on Day 5, when in the second over itself, skipper Masood edged a delivery from Hasan Mahmud and was caught behind.
Babar and Abdullah bat steadily
After Masood’s dismissal, Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique batted for 13.3 overs and added 38 more runs to Pakistan’s total. The run-scoring was slow, but it was assured, and it looked like the pair would take Pakistan to a draw.
Babar’s dismissal insinuates a collapse
However, Babar chopped on a delivery from Nahid Rana onto his stumps while attempting a drive, and that started a collapse for Pakistan that saw eight wickets fall for just 118 runs on a pitch where only 17 wickets had fallen in the first four days.
Shakib and Mehidy run the show
Shakib Al Hasan got Saud Shakeel stumped in the next over after Babar’s dismissal and also picked up Abdullah Shafique (who played a wild shot) and Naseem Shah. Meanwhile, Mehidy also bowled quite well, got the ball to turn and bounce, and picked up Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Ali, and the crucial wicket of Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 51, the highest score of the innings.
Islam and Hasan chase it easily
After Pakistan got all out for 146 in their second innings, Bangladesh needed just 30 runs to win their first-ever Test in Pakistan. Openers Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan did that with ease, with all their wickets in hand, sealing the first-ever ten-wicket win on Pakistan soil. History achieved ✅
