It was yet another day where Tim David showed off his prowess with the bat. The batter returned to the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) from international duty and got going immediately as he smashed 46 off just 23 deliveries, including five sixes, for the Saint Lucia Kings (SLK) against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (SKNP) to help his side post 200 on the board.
It took David eight balls to get his first boundary, and then he went on a rampage. He first hit Waqar Salamkheil for back-to-back sixes, and an over later dished out the same treatment to Jason Holder as well. Except, he hit Holder for three sixes in a row, before holing out at long-off.
From run-a-ball 13, David finished his innings at a strike rate of exactly 200. In the end, the Kings went on to win by three runs, despite fifties from Navian Bidaisee (50 off 36) and Holder (63 off 29).
With this win, the Kings get their first win of CPL 2025, after their first match against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons was washed out without a toss.
David, who won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) earlier this year, went into the tournament at the back of an impressive outing with Australia, with whom his last five T20I innings read: 17, 50, 83, 30 and 102*.
He returns to Saint Lucia after three seasons, having last played for them in 2022, before turning up for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in 2024.
