50 off 31 Balls, MI's Newest All-Rounder Shardul Thakur Shows His Form At Wankhede Stadium
Shardul Thakur showed his batting prowess in his first game after signing for the Mumbai Indians
Out of nowhere, the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians signed experienced all-rounder Shardul Thakur in an INR 2 crore cash trade deal from Lucknow Super Giants. While it sprung up a surprise, given that no one signed the all-rounder in IPL 2025 auction, the 34-year-old proved why the five-time champions traded him, on November 17 (Monday).
In Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy clash against Puducherry at the Wankhede Stadium, their skipper Thakur put on a batting masterclass, smashing a 31-ball half-century. During his knock, Thakur smashed three fours and crossed the boundary three more times, putting on a show for the audience.

The all-rounder’s knock ensured that Mumbai got past the 600-run mark, as they found themselves in a strong position against Puducherry. During his stay at the crease, the 34-year-old attacked Puducherry’s pacer, Sabhay Chadha, for 32 runs off 16 balls, smashing two fours and two sixes.
MI’s newest recruit didn’t spare Aman Khan either, smashing 16 off just four balls, putting on a 100-run stand alongside wicketkeeper batter Akash Anand.
