Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) might have struck gold, as the 22-year-old Smaran Ravichandran has continued his crazy form in the Maharaja T20 Trophy 2025. The left-hander carried on his tradition of scoring runs, smashing an unbeaten 53 against Shivamogga Lions, on August 19 (Tuesday).
Despite the Mystics playing back-to-back fixtures, it didn’t look like the 22-year-old was tired one bit, carrying on from where he left off in the franchise’s previous clash against Hubli Tigers. Unlike the clash against the Tigers, the run chase wasn’t that tough against the Lions, as Mystics were chasing 134 to reach the top of the table.
But at 49/2, it seemed like the Mystics were going to make the clash a lot harder than it looked when Smaran walked out to bat. However, the youngster joined hands with Nikin Jose, as the two combined to put on a 54-ball 71 run stand, which saw the franchise move to the top of the table.
For a second game in a row, Smaran got to his half-century, and in the clash against the Lions, he got there with some stellar strokeplay, smashing three fours and four sixes. It is the third half-century for Smaran in the ongoing Maharaja T20, and is just a few runs away from toppling Mohammed Taha as the highest run-scorer in the tournament.
