After retiring from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022 as a player, Kieron Pollard serves as the batting coach for the franchise. However, the all-rounder is very much active as a player in other leagues.
One of them is the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), where he leads the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). On August 23 (Saturday) in Gros Islet, he unleashed his wrath on his opponents, the Saint Lucia Kings, slamming 65 off just 29 deliveries, which included as many as six sixes and four fours. The former West Indies captain also struck at a strike rate of 224.14.
He was eventually caught behind off the bowling of Oshane Thomas in the 19th over of the innings. Thanks to Pollard's efforts, TKR went on to post 183/7. That proved to be enough as TKR went on to win the match by 18 runs and go third on the points table.
Pollard had a lucky escape off the first ball he faced as Tabraiz Shamsi dropped a return catch. That proved to be costly as he not just took on Shamsi after that, but also showed Roston Chase, David Wiese and Oshane Thomas no mercy.
In fact, he hit Wiese for four boundaries (3 sixes, 1 four) in a row in the 17th over to bring up his fifty off just 22 deliveries and also brought up his 200th six of the competition. TKR next face Antigua & Barbuda Falcons next on August 27 (Wednesday) in Tarouba.
