658 Days After His Last T20I, Jitesh Sharma Begins Innings With Four

Jitesh Sharma showed his batting prowess with a boundary off the first ball on his return

All eyes were on Jitesh Sharma, as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper made his return to the Indian setup during the third T20I against Australia on November 2 (Sunday). The wicketkeeper-batter replaced Sanju Samson, who didn’t have the best of starts to the series with a failure in the second T20I.

While he didn’t get too many opportunities to make a difference behind the sticks, Jitesh answered all questions on his return with a first-ball boundary. The 32-year-old walked out with India in a strong position and picked up from where he left off in IPL 2025, with a crunching cover drive for a boundary against Xavier Bartlett.

Jitesh didn’t stop there, with another audacious boundary against Nathan Ellis, with a sublime scoop past Josh Inglis for his second boundary on the night.

The 32-year-old only earned his comeback on the back of a stellar IPL 2025 season, where he smashed 261 runs in 15 games, where he struck at 176.35, including smashing 17 sixes in the season.

Given that the T20 World Cup is around the corner, Jitesh could be the incumbent during the global competition.
