71 & 4/46, All-Rounder Shreyas Gopal Adds To CSK’s Retention Headache With Red-ball Show
Shreyas Gopal turned trump for Karnataka with a stroke-filled 71 and picked up figures of 4/46 with the ball
Shreyas Gopal can’t do one thing wrong at the moment as the Karnataka all-rounder continued his sizzling red-ball form on November 9 (Sunday) against Maharashtra. The leg-spinner has been in great bowling form in the Ranji Trophy 2025, starting the season with a 3/19 before picking up 11 wickets in the clash against Saurashtra.
In that particular clash, the Karnataka all-rounder scored 56 & 3 in the same clash, making vital batting contributions with the bat. The 32-year-old then continued that purple run with a well-made 57 in the very next encounter against Goa.
But against Maharashtra, he combined both his batting form and bowling form, scoring a vital 71 off 162 deliveries, where he hit nine boundaries. The all-rounder walked in to bat at 194/5, and had an 82-run stand with Abhinav Manohar, and then carried on to make his 71 before being the last to get dismissed.
The leg-spinner didn’t stop there, as the 32-year-old picked up four crucial wickets for the side, dismissing opposition skipper Ankit Bawne. Gopal also broke a building partnership, as he scalped his fourth wicket, increasing his wickets tally to 17, averaging 19.47 in the tournament.
While CSK never played him in IPL 2025, their dipping returns in the bowling department could force them to retain the all-rounder ahead of IPL 2026.
