Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has not just been ruled out of the remainder of the first Test against New Zealand, but is also in doubt for the Boxing Day Test at MCG due to a hamstring injury. Hazlewood bowled just eight deliveries in the Perth Test, in which he picked up the wicket of Jeet Raval, but pulled up right after that and was consequently withdrawn from the field.
The MRI scans revealed a left hamstring strain and there are fears that he could miss the rest of the series as well. “I knew as soon as I did it that there was a tear there. It's not too bad so we'll play it by ear the next couple of weeks,” Hazlewood told Fox Cricket on Day Three.
"Bowlers know their bodies pretty well these days, we know when something’s not quite right. I'll take the next couple of weeks as they come. It's a tight series so it will be tough work to get up for the last test. We'll see how we go,” he added.
