A little bit hot, but the boys have already adjusted to it: Najmul Hossain Shanto

While Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by two wickets, they failed to overcome South Africa despite running them close

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 caravan has now moved to Arnos Vale Ground in St Vincent, a venue that last hosted an international match in 2014. Incidentally, it was Bangladesh, who were a part of that Test, and now they are going to aid the return of international cricket to the venue when they take on the Netherlands on June 13 (Thursday).

“I think wherever we are going to play, all the supporters came to support us, especially in West Indies, all the supporters came to support our team. That's what we felt. We stay in our hotel; a lot of people already talk about our cricket. So really it feels good and I hope all the crowd will come tomorrow and support us,” Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto said in the press conference.

Bangladesh played their first two group games in the United States of America (USA). While they beat Sri Lanka by two wickets, they failed to overcome South Africa despite running them close. Winning against the Netherlands will help them have a massive advantage as far as their Super Eight qualification are concerned. Shanto stated that his team have already adjusted to the heat of St Vincent and are focusing on winning the next game.

“I think so far, we played some good cricket here. Although we lost last match, it was a close match. I hope we are very close to winning, but it can happen in cricket. So, we are very happy the way we played the last couple of matches. And here we had a very good practice session today.

“A little bit hot but the boys are already adjusted and I hope tomorrow we'll have a very good match. We are very much confident that the team we have this time if we play with our strength, we should go to Super Eights,” the Bangladesh skipper said.
