Aaron Finch replaces Alex Hales at Kolkata Knight Riders
Hales has withdrawn from the forthcoming season citing bubble fatigue
Australia’s white-ball skipper Aaron Finch will be getting a fresh gig in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he has officially been announced as the replacement for England’s Alex Hales at Kolkata Knight Riders. At the mega auction, KKR had purchased Hales for his base price of 1.50 crore, but the opener has pulled out citing bubble fatigue. As a result, the Knight Riders have roped in Finch, who has played 87 IPL matches and has amassed 2,0005 runs.
“Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed Aaron Finch as a replacement for England batter Alex Hales for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Hales has cited bubble fatigue as his reason for withdrawal from the tournament,” the IPL confirmed in a statement.
Finch did not take part in the 2021 edition of the competition, and went unsold in the mega auction, but the 35-year-old will be returning to feature in the IPL for a 11th season. Remarkably, KKR is all set to be Finch’s 9th different franchise in the IPL, having represented 8 teams across 10 years.
