Indian left-handed opening batter Abhishek Sharma missed his sister Komal Sharma’s wedding to play a List A game against Australia A in Kanpur.
Komal tied the knot with businessman Lovish Oberoi in Amritsar; however, it had to be without her beloved brother, who did attend a few ceremonies of the wedding before leaving for Kanpur, where the series between India A and Australia A is being played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
Speaking to the media, Komal said that while it’s a great day for me as she’s starting a new journey, she missed her brother and as per reports, was quite emotional about his absence.
Abhishek opened the batting for India A on October 3; however, he was dismissed for a golden duck by Jack Edwards as India A struggled in the game after winning the first 50-over contest in dominant fashion.
It was a crucial innings for Abhishek as the Indian team for the Australia series, which includes three ODIs later this month, is due to be selected soon. Abhishek has cemented his spot in the T20I side and is now looking to make a space for himself in the ODI scheme of things.
However, it wasn’t only Abhishek who missed a score in the second game as India A could only score 246 in 45.5 overs despite some really good batting from Tilak Varma (94) and Riyan Parag (58). Australia A eventually won the rain-interrupted game by 9 wickets as the DLS method came into play.
