
India’s Abhishek Sharma reaped the rewards of a strong showing in the five-match T20I series against England, which concluded recently with the fifth and final T20I on Sunday (February 1).
The left-hander, who smashed a 54-ball 135 at the Wankhede Stadium, moved 38 spots to the second position in the latest release of the ICC Rankings on February 5 (Wednesday). He replaced India’s Tilak Varma, who slips to third in the rankings, which is topped by Travis Head of Australia.
In the bowler’s rankings, Varun Chakravarthy continued his rise after taking 14 wickets in the series. He moved up three spots and is now ranked second, jointly with England’s Adil Rashid. After a modest showing of 1/40 in Wankhede, Rashid had to vacate the top spot for West Indies’ Akeal Hosein.
